About the position

As a key member of the Software Development & Operations team, the Director, IT Infrastructure & Operations will lead the team responsible for Compute, Messaging, Virtualization, and SaaS Applications. This role is pivotal in shaping the on-premise data center strategy and cloud infrastructure strategy, overseeing infrastructure DevSecOps activities, and ensuring the solution design, implementation, administration, availability, and performance of IT systems. The Director will execute the mission, strategy, and priorities of the IT Infrastructure organization to maximize the success of business and IT enterprise initiatives. This includes working closely with business partners to understand and shape their needs, tracking trends, and providing direction on emerging technologies that should be incorporated into Infrastructure & Operations solutions to successfully deliver the overall IT strategy. In terms of management, the Director will build successful stakeholder relationships with other IT and business stakeholders, ensuring a clear understanding of business needs and acting as a trusted advisor. They will provide input on the annual Infrastructure & Operations budget, ensuring alignment with the overall strategic objectives of IT and the enterprise while fostering a culture of continuous cost optimization. Collaboration with Cybersecurity & Program Management is essential to ensure that IT contributes to and applies security strategies effectively. The Director will also introduce innovative operations capabilities that enhance competitive capabilities and employee productivity, while developing the maturity of the team to improve efficiency and collaboration with other IT and business areas. Governance is another critical aspect of this role, as the Director will develop a comprehensive IT Service Management (ITSM) landscape based on best practices and related toolsets, including a robust IT asset management program. They will serve on IT planning and policymaking committees, driving the development and adoption of enterprise technology standards, governance processes, and performance metrics. The Director will also champion innovation within the organization, encouraging the team to experiment with new solutions that enable business opportunities and support IT transformation efforts aligned with the overall IT Technology Vision. Vendor management is a key responsibility, where the Director will select vendors and service providers through a competitive process, providing advice throughout vendor negotiations and contract development. They will review service provider performance and act as the primary relationship owner for vendor relationships. People management is crucial, as the Director will design and develop a strong and diverse leadership team, support career progression for direct reports, and collaborate with HR to ensure IT can supply skilled resources to meet demand. Change management will involve developing communication and educational plans to mitigate disruption and assist in the creation and execution of change management plans. Overall, this role is integral to driving the success of IT Infrastructure & Operations and ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of subject matter experience and business/industry work experience.
  • 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Experience managing teams and building relationships with people at various levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to launch and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Continuing professional education in leadership and organizational development.
  • Training and Certification in Project Management highly desired.
  • Training and Certification in ITILv3 Service Lifecycle Management highly desired.
  • Cloud architecture and solutions design utilizing AWS and Azure.
  • Understanding of hybrid cloud infrastructure.
  • Ability to apply Agile and SCRUM techniques to project management.
  • Managing infrastructure DevSecOps activities.
  • Familiar with Kubernetes multi-cluster management.
  • Familiarity with Agile and SCRUM project activities and practices.
  • Virtualization technologies such as VMware.
  • Storage Area Networks and associated Block, File, and SAN technologies from vendors such as Brocade, HP, EMC, NetApp, or IBM.
  • Management of DNS both on-premise and in the cloud.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects using tools such as Microsoft Project.
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience managing UNIX and Windows operating systems.
