About the position

The Director, Agile Product Manager (APM) will lead a team of product owners and work closely with technology, design, content, data analytics, enterprise, and business partners to create and enhance mobile and online banking experiences. This role is pivotal in establishing a Bank agile team culture rooted in transparency and learning, focusing on continuous experience and process improvement, and quality. The APM will be responsible for the strategy, ideation, definition, development, and performance of digital and technology products and their experiences for USAA and its members. This includes overseeing highly complex or strategic initiatives that require confidentiality and enterprise-level visibility. The APM will collaborate with Business and Technology stakeholders to tackle complex problems while maintaining situational awareness of the market to maximize the product portfolio. The position requires a strong focus on operational effectiveness, goals, and performance of the team and their products, ensuring strategic alignment within a product portfolio. The APM will attract, select, and develop a Digital or Technology Product Management team to achieve product and experience goals. They will manage day-to-day activities of the product management team, ensuring optimal efficiency and effective delivery. The APM will set new product strategies and lead the team to define product strategy for a product portfolio, overseeing the development, analysis, and alignment of product strategy and roadmaps. They will apply product management expertise in state-of-the-art digital and technology domains, improving business outcomes by injecting strategic and innovative thinking into digital and technology product and service solutions. The APM will guide teams in implementing data-driven methodologies across multiple channels to optimize end-user experiences and drive key performance indicators. Additionally, they will ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of product owners to enhance mobile and online banking experiences.
  • Establish a Bank agile team culture focused on transparency and learning.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of the Digital or Technology product management team.
  • Set new Digital or Technology product strategies and oversee product strategy development.
  • Collaborate with Business and Technology stakeholders to tackle complex problems.
  • Focus on operational effectiveness, goals, and performance of the team and products.
  • Attract, select, and develop a Digital or Technology Product Management team.
  • Guide teams in implementing data-driven methodologies to optimize end-user experiences.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified and controlled.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4+ years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8+ years Digital/Technology Product Management experience, including Strategy/Planning, Innovation, User Experience, Process Engineering, Analytics, and/or Research/Testing.
  • 3+ years of direct team lead or leading matrixed or cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and communicate effectively.
  • Solid business acumen combined with strong technical and customer experience foundations.
  • Knowledge of Technology/Digital products and emerging technology platforms.
  • Proven ability to work in an Agile, Lean Product Development environment.
  • Knowledge of digital and technology strategy and delivery as it relates to Experience Design concepts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Banking or Financial Services experience, especially mobile banking.
  • 2+ years of experience leading a team of Product Managers/Product Owners.
  • Experience creating exceptional native experiences that are customer focused.
  • Understanding of customer journeys across customer lifecycle from acquisition to servicing.
