About the position

Murad is currently seeking a Director of Digital Marketing to oversee all online marketing initiatives for the company’s digital properties. This role is pivotal in supporting and guiding the strategic direction of Murad's e-commerce efforts, particularly in light of the company's recent growth. The Director will be responsible for managing both the strategic and tactical aspects of online acquisition and retention marketing, which includes SEO/SEM, email marketing, paid media, affiliate partnerships, customer relationship management (CRM), and loyalty programs. The ideal candidate will be driven, results-oriented, and analytical, with a proven track record in direct response marketing. This position will also involve managing a team of three and collaborating closely with global marketing, finance, product management, and offline marketing teams. The Director will own the departmental profit and loss (P/L) and will be tasked with developing forecasts and budgets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. They will provide leadership and strategic direction for North America’s online marketing efforts, overseeing the company’s websites, murad.com and muradskincare.ca. A key responsibility will be to drive quality customer traffic to these sites through various online channels, utilizing attribution models to determine the optimal mix of SEM/SEO, display advertising, email, affiliates, and paid social media. In addition, the Director will lead CRM and loyalty initiatives in partnership with analytics, IT, and product management teams. They will manage a team of three direct reports and various agency relationships, providing guidance and fostering growth within the team. Effective resource and project management will be essential to ensure that all programs are executed seamlessly, efficiently, on time, and within budget. The Director will also analyze direct response marketing efforts, including segmentation, list management, vendor management, and reporting, while driving consumer research and analysis to enhance sales and improve customer experience. The role requires building and maintaining relationships with online partners and vendors, including online retailers, and involves crafting and negotiating vendor contracts. Staying current with the latest e-commerce trends and technologies is crucial to keeping Murad.com competitive in the online marketplace. The Director will identify new opportunities within the online space and make ROI-based recommendations, while collaborating with Global Marketing and Creative teams to generate high-performing creative for all online marketing channels. Acting as the primary liaison between online marketing and several internal departments, including Global Marketing, creative, IT, accounting/finance, project & product management, and customer service, is also a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Own departmental P/L and develop forecasts and budgets monthly, quarterly, annual, and as needed.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of online marketing experience with 3-4 years in a senior manager or director role.
  • Experience in online retail and/or beauty preferred.
  • Successful and well-rounded experience with e-commerce and web production.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, comfortable presenting complex models and marketing results to senior executives.
  • Strong strategic and tactical skills, as well as technical skills.
  • Intimate understanding of the creative process and experience working with and evaluating creative work products.
