About the position

Murad Skincare, a leader in the beauty industry with a 30-year legacy of developing clinically proven products, is seeking a Director of Digital Marketing. This pivotal role is essential for driving the strategic direction of Murad's online marketing initiatives across all digital properties. The Director will be responsible for managing the company's online acquisition and retention marketing efforts, which include SEO/SEM, email marketing, paid media, affiliate partnerships, CRM, and loyalty programs. The ideal candidate will be results-oriented, analytical, and possess a proven track record in direct response marketing. This position requires collaboration with various internal teams, including global marketing, finance, product management, and offline marketing, to ensure a cohesive approach to Murad's online presence. The Director will oversee the management of the departmental P/L, developing forecasts and budgets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. They will lead the North America online marketing strategy, ensuring that murad.com and muradskincare.ca are optimized for quality customer acquisition through multiple online channels. Utilizing attribution models, the Director will determine the optimal mix of marketing channels to drive traffic and sales. In addition to managing a team of three direct reports, the Director will be responsible for fostering their growth and ensuring that all marketing programs are executed efficiently and within budget. The role also involves analyzing direct response marketing efforts, conducting consumer research, and maintaining relationships with online partners and vendors. The Director will keep abreast of the latest e-commerce trends and technology to ensure Murad's competitive edge in the online marketplace, while also collaborating with global marketing and creative teams to generate high-performing marketing materials.

Responsibilities

  • Own departmental P/L and develop forecasts and budgets monthly, quarterly, annual, and as needed.
  • Provide leadership and strategy for North America online marketing including overseeing murad.com and muradskincare.ca.
  • Drive quality customers to dotcom through multiple online channels and, using attribution models, determine the optimal mix across channels (SEM/SEO, display, email, affiliates, and paid social).
  • Lead CRM and loyalty initiatives through partnerships with analytics, IT and product management.
  • Manage a team of 3 direct reports and various agency relationships, providing leadership and guidance to encourage growth.
  • Manage resources and project management to ensure all programs are executed seamlessly, efficiently, on time and within budget.
  • Analyze direct response marketing, including segmentation, list and vendor management, and reporting.
  • Drive consumer research and analysis to increase sales and improve customer experience.
  • Oversee the building and maintaining of relationships with online partners and vendors, including online retailers.
  • Craft and negotiate vendor contracts.
  • Keep current with the latest e-commerce trends and technology to keep Murad.com competitive in the online arena.
  • Identify areas of new opportunities within the online space and make ROI-based recommendations.
  • Work with Global Marketing and Creative to generate high-performing creative for all online marketing channels.
  • Act as the primary liaison between online marketing and several other internal departments including Global Marketing, creative, IT, accounting/finance, project & product management and customer service.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of online marketing experience with 3-4 years in a senior manager or director role.
  • Experience in online retail and/or beauty preferred.
  • Successful and well-rounded experience with e-commerce and web production.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, comfortable presenting complex models and marketing results to senior executives.
  • Strong strategic and tactical skills, as well as technical skills.
  • Intimate understanding of the creative process and experience working with and evaluating creative work products.
