About the position

The Director, Digital Marketing role at Zoetis is a pivotal position within the U.S. Retail channel, which has experienced significant growth due to the shift towards online shopping and the increasing demand for competitive pricing, transparency, and convenience. This role is integral to the leadership team responsible for shaping retail marketing, merchandising, and program strategy, with a strong focus on eCommerce as a central element of the growth strategy. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of marketing intuition, creative vision, and executional capability, making them a key player in driving the company's digital marketing initiatives. In this high-visibility role, the Director will lead and influence cross-functional teams to develop and implement digital marketing initiatives aimed at enhancing brand awareness, acquiring new customers, increasing traffic, and driving sales. The position requires ownership of the retail experience from various perspectives, including product, category, training, visual, and brand development. The Director will design and manage the digital marketing campaign schedule around key seasonal and promotional events, ensuring that budgets are set and managed effectively to maximize return on investment across campaigns, tactics, and retailers. Additionally, the Director will assess traffic and purchase behavior trends by customer segment to identify seasonal shopping behavior opportunities that can inform digital marketing initiatives. Collaboration with account teams on assortment discussions and distribution expansion requests is essential, as is the management of product launches for assigned product lines. The role also involves leading the development of the yearly strategic operating plan, which includes strategies to drive account growth and create innovative programs that differentiate Zoetis from competitors. The Director will provide thought leadership and prepare the organization for Amazon's entry into Pet Rx, while also developing performance goals and actionable insights around digital channel performance. This position will lead 1-2 direct reports and will be responsible for recruiting and hiring additional specialized talent to expand the digital marketing function within the Retail team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or influence cross-functional teams to plan, develop, and implement digital marketing initiatives aimed at increasing brand awareness, new customer acquisition, traffic, and sales.
  • Own the retail experience from a product, category, training, visual, and brand development perspective.
  • Design and manage the digital marketing campaign schedule around key seasonal and promotional events; set and manage digital marketing budgets to maximize return on investment across campaigns, tactics, and retailers.
  • Manage retailer-specific marketing opportunities and overall execution, including promotion strategy, creative development, retailer .com and digital media, and content needs.
  • Assess traffic and purchase behavior trends by customer segment to expose seasonal shopping behavior opportunities that can be leveraged to inform digital marketing initiatives and improving effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the account teams on assortment discussions and distribution expansion requests.
  • Manage product launches for assigned product lines including oversight of asset creation and implementation of enhanced content.
  • Lead the development of the yearly strategic operating plan, which includes strategies to drive account growth, creation of innovative OTC and prescription programs across species that differentiate Zoetis from our competitors.
  • Provide thought leadership, guidance and prepare the organization for Amazon's entry into Pet Rx.
  • Develop and provide teams with performance goals, measurement, and actionable insights around digital channel performance through streamlined, centralized visibility into all tactics and campaigns.
  • Lead 1-2 direct reports and recruit and hire additional specialized talent to expand the digital marketing function within the Retail team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Marketing, or related field; MBA is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience building and managing retail marketing programs with a specific emphasis on retailer .com.
  • Experience in consumer marketing such as channel marketing, retail marketing, product marketing, merchandising, or advertising especially in the pharmaceuticals and/or CPG space.
  • Experience with multi-party marketing partnerships and extensive experience working with retailers and e-tailers.
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics to determine the ROI of marketing efforts and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience in retail planning and allocation to ensure that there is product supply to support marketing initiatives.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in complex, large organizations.
  • Experience effectively communicating with senior leadership teams and the broader organization to drive collaboration and change.
  • Strong business analysis skills using data to derive insights and influence decision making.
  • Strong proficiency using MS Excel, Tableau, or similar.
