About the position

The Director of Disneyland Marketing & Commercial Strategy is a pivotal role responsible for leading the ideation, development, and implementation of innovative marketing and commercial strategies that align with consumer insights and business objectives. This position focuses on the five P's of marketing: Product, Price, Place, Promotion, and People, to achieve aggressive revenue goals. The director will nurture and lead a talented team of Senior Managers and experienced professionals, driving attendance, yield, and revenue on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis while balancing mid-to-long-term commercial growth opportunities. In this executive role, the director will develop and implement commercial strategies, marketing activations, and communications plans aimed at generating visitation intent and converting key audiences. They will lead pipeline initiatives and strategies, acting as a steward and advocate for innovative cross-channel commercial opportunities. The director will manage a multi-million-dollar annual marketing budget, ensuring accurate financial forecasts and identifying future consumer opportunities. They will also shape product and experience development, demonstrating expertise in guest origins, geographic markets, and audience segments to deliver planned growth. The director must articulate and incorporate deep subject matter expertise to inform communications strategies and diagnose business performance. They will lead key areas of the business from conception to delivery, providing leadership, coaching, and support to both direct and indirect reports, as well as marketing and sales functional discipline partners. This role is integral to the Commercial Strategy Leadership Team, collaborating with key partners including Marketing and Sales Centers of Excellence, Public Relations, Walt Disney Imagineering, Revenue Management & Analytics, Finance, and Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ideation, development, and implementation of innovative marketing and commercial strategies.
  • Connect consumer insights to business objectives across the five P's (Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People).
  • Drive weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual attendance, yield, and revenue.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies, marketing activations, and communications plans to generate visitation intent and conversion.
  • Manage a multi-million-dollar annual marketing budget and ensure accurate financial forecasts.
  • Identify future consumer opportunities and shape product and experience development.
  • Articulate and incorporate subject matter expertise to inform communications strategies and diagnose business performance.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to direct and indirect reports and functional partners.
  • Collaborate with key partners across various departments to drive innovative cross-channel commercial opportunities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in marketing, strategic planning, or branding.
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing insight-driven consumer strategies.
  • Outstanding presentation, verbal, and written skills.
  • Exceptional ability to generate long-term business growth strategies.
  • Deep experience in marketing a major brand, including writing strategic input briefs and planning.
  • Ability to curate and interpret data from multiple sources and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrates emotional intelligence and relational savvy.
  • Expertise in evaluating research and forming an analytical perspective from the consumer's viewpoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and support collaborative work across functional partners.
  • Superior organization, project management, and budget management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish is desirable.
  • Minimum of three years' experience as an executive in marketing, strategic planning, or branding.
