About the position

The Director of Distribution at Liberty Mutual is responsible for managing a complex subregion territory and leading a team to achieve profit and growth goals. This role involves agency management, talent development, and collaboration with internal partners to execute business strategies effectively. The director will work across various commercial products and ensure compliance with state regulations while driving business growth and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Achieving key financial targets including rate adequacy, written premium, profitability, new business, and retention.
  • Managing the execution of the annual agency management process and overall territory strategy to drive profitable premium growth.
  • Leading the Senior Territory Manager team to optimize agency footprint including agency plant expansion, engagement, and terminations.
  • Developing strategies and driving execution of key initiatives to ensure effective agency partnerships to attract, develop, and retain profitable business.
  • Identifying and assessing potential risks including service levels, business quality, pricing, and market conditions to develop resolutions for agency satisfaction and financial results achievement.
  • Inspiring, coaching, and developing the team to ensure deep engagement and necessary skills to achieve sub-region goals.
  • Collaborating with the regional marketing team to deliver effective internal and external communications and marketing programs.
  • Leveraging portfolio-level data and analysis to address macro-level business trends and maximize business flow.
  • Maintaining an understanding of the competitive landscape and coordinating resources to meet marketing, pricing, and customer needs.
  • Leveraging agency compensation programs, including Agency Profit Sharing process, compensation communication, reporting, tracking, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in business or related field or equivalent training required.
  • MBA, CIC and/or institute designation preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressively more responsible related work experience in a field distribution environment.
  • Proven success in building internal and external partnerships, improving team and individual performance.
  • Demonstrates strong business acumen and understanding of agency business, solid track record of achieving results, project management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
