About the position

The Director of Catering and Inflight Mobile Technology at United Airlines is responsible for overseeing the development and management of applications that enhance the onboard experience for customers and flight attendants. This role involves strategic planning, project delivery, and leadership within the Digital Technology team, ensuring that the right tools and information are available to improve customer satisfaction and drive revenue. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and a focus on transforming systems to elevate the culinary experience at the airline.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and adapt a multi-year application development strategy in line with corporate and IT goals.
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with senior and operating-level business leaders to communicate strategy, goals, and program updates.
  • Lead and supervise projects to ensure delivery within budget and schedule, meeting quality performance goals.
  • Align with business partners on delivery success criteria and ensure technology solutions follow architectural standards and security requirements.
  • Develop project governance including status reporting and ensure reliability and stability of applications.
  • Empower, mentor, and develop team members, establishing department and individual goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • 7+ years of application development experience.
  • 5+ years of management experience in an IT or leadership-related role.
  • Sophisticated technical and business knowledge in software development life cycle, quality assurance, project management, and related fields.
  • In-depth understanding of application development processes, methodologies, and lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with new technologies, including cloud services, software architecture, and cybersecurity practices.
  • Knowledge of financial principles to manage budgets, forecast costs, and deliver cost-effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with technical teams and business leaders.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with internal and external partners, vendors, and service providers.
  • Collaboration skills to work across different departments.
