About the position

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms, is seeking to hire a Director, eData Managed Review Operations. This position is pivotal in facilitating the delivery of Managed Review legal services, working closely with the eData Senior Legal Team and Practice Technology teams. The Director will be responsible for developing and managing operational controls that ensure the systematic delivery of quality managed review services, aligning with the legal and business objectives of the eData Practice Group, the firm, and its clients. The role involves providing administrative oversight to the assigned eData managed review legal staff, offering effective coaching, guidance, and training. The Director will ensure that the managed review legal staff understand and adhere to practice group procedures and guidelines, meet all administrative requirements for managed reviews, and fulfill client service, communication, and practice requirements across all areas. The Director will collaborate with practice group leadership to establish the vision, goals, and direction of eData Managed Review Services. This includes participating in the development and operationalization of approved Managed Review policies and procedures, including the rollout and utilization of new technology to support managed reviews. The Director will direct the progress of managed review projects, establish project milestones, and monitor project status. Additionally, the role involves managing and tracking project intake and the closing of managed reviews, including the data/matter disposition process. The Director will also manage all review resources for load balancing and liaise regularly with the eData staffing team, supporting practice group leadership with eData Associate assignments. Furthermore, the Director will facilitate the development of the managed review legal team by providing opportunities and support, offering timely feedback on work products, and regularly coaching, evaluating, and recognizing staff performance and accomplishments. The role includes providing training, resources, and oversight of the managed review budget lifecycle for eDiscovery, assisting eData Associates with developing cost estimates, monitoring and controlling established budgets, and ensuring that practice group billing procedures are properly completed. The Director will also support eData Recruiting with oversight of the eData Attorney program, including training, development, and the year-end evaluation process.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the delivery of Managed Review legal services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of experience in eDiscovery or document review, with at least two years of experience managing reviews and review staff.
  • Superior client service orientation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage and motivate staff.
  • Results-oriented with time management and organizational skills to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proactive self-starter; strategic thinker.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with partners, lawyers, executives, and all levels of employees across the firm.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical skills including Excel and database experience, document review platforms, and timekeeping software.
  • Microsoft Office Access, SQL, Relativity, or other industry-related technical certification.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred.
