About the position

The Director of the Early Childhood Center is responsible for leading, supervising, and managing a preschool that caters to children from birth to age 5. This role involves overseeing all classrooms and activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a nurturing environment for children and families. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills, along with a passion for early childhood education.

Responsibilities

  • Handle the day-to-day operations of an Early Childhood Development Center including HR, family supports, community engagement & partnerships
  • Plan and supervise programs and curriculum
  • Manage staff & enforce personnel policies
  • Plan, coordinate, implement parent engagement activities
  • Conduct staff training & manage staff professional development
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, policies and procedures
  • Oversee the care, safety, and well-being of all children at the Center
  • Support children's learning and development by ensuring classroom environments are warm and nurturing, and by building positive relationships with students and families
  • Be willing to manage a classroom of children when needed
  • Ensure that classroom experiences are rich in learning & language, and emphasize age appropriate practices
  • Supervise classroom activities and program including lesson plans, daily activities, and field trips
  • Ensure that outdoor and indoor class and play environments are clean and safe

Requirements

  • BA degree
  • ECE Level 5 Credential
  • Infant Toddler Level 4
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Good organization & teaching skills
  • Understanding of the State of IL credentials process
  • Knowledge of early childhood developmentally appropriate practices
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Docs
  • Some business administration skills
