About the position

The Director EHS at Exyte GmbH is responsible for ensuring an 'Incident Free Workplace' in a construction environment, promoting safety awareness, and implementing effective safety programs. This role involves maintaining compliance with EHS regulations, managing EHS performance, and providing guidance to leadership teams on EHS issues. The position is critical in fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and implement the corporate EHS management system to ensure legislative compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 certification requirements.
  • Act as an advisor on construction EHS issues to TFS leadership teams.
  • Assist in the implementation of the global EHS behavioral program.
  • Align and adhere to the Company's EHS core values.
  • Plan and manage the EHS risk assessment register.
  • Monitor EHS performance and programs, delivering monthly leadership reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and facilitate adequate project EHS training.
  • Perform quarterly EHS evaluations using the OneEHS database according to corporate procedures.
  • Manage a TFS EHS audit program.
  • Investigate recordable and serious near miss events, advising on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Report and liaise with management and relevant authorities on incident occurrences.
  • Coordinate with client safety organizations.
  • Manage, coach, and mentor project EHS employees in their region.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving the corporate EHS Management System, ensuring annual management reviews are conducted.
  • Ensure timely and accurate input of data in the OneEHS database.
  • Assist in the preparation of EHS tender documents and statistics for projects.
  • Evaluate contracts for EHS compliance and maintain a register of past performance.
  • Manage corporate EHS goals and develop strategies to achieve them.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, or an applied science field preferred.
  • Professional Certifications/License required: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Professional Engineer License (PE).
  • 15+ years of EHS experience.
  • 5+ years in a senior EHS role.
  • Experience with a direct hire, self-perform construction contractor is required.
  • Experience with a direct hire union mechanical contractor is preferred.
  • Experience as a Project EHS Manager supporting direct hire of craft employees required.
  • Experience constructing Advanced Technology Facilities (ATF) and/or Biopharma and Life Sciences (BLS) facilities preferred.
