About the position

Form Energy is an American manufacturing and energy technology company focused on revolutionizing energy storage with cost-effective, multi-day technology designed to keep the electric grid secure and reliable. The Director of EHS role is a key leadership position that will champion the culture of safety within the organization. This role involves leading the existing Environment Health & Safety organization and expanding its scope to support manufacturing and construction activities. The position is based out of Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV, with relocation assistance available.

Responsibilities

  • Work across Form's technical and operational teams to develop and strengthen a culture of safety.
  • Establish site and department-specific strategies for identification of safety and environmental and health hazards associated with all business activities and guidelines for protection from those hazards.
  • Develop a multi-site departmental roadmap and staffing plan to support Form's manufacturing scale-up and expansion objectives.
  • Establish departmental KPIs and maintain a company-wide EHS dashboard, with regular reporting to executive staff and site leadership.
  • Lead environmental permitting and other regulatory activities associated with expansion and new construction, manufacturing build-out and infrastructure projects.
  • Develop the procedures, processes, and training programs to maintain and monitor health and safety of company employees, including PHA, surveys, and audit or inspection of work environments, machinery, and equipment to detect existing or potential hazards.
  • Develop and coordinate emergency response operations at each site, including medical, chemical, fire and evacuation/rescue, designating an Emergency Response Team and arranging for all appropriate training.
  • Direct Form resources in all federal, state and corporate investigations and inspections.
  • Maintain current knowledge of safety and environmental laws and regulations to keep the company in compliance with regulatory agencies and other applicable laws.

Requirements

  • 15+ years' experience in Environmental Health and Safety with at least five years of management experience leading a multi-site EHS department in a fast paced, high throughput manufacturing operation.
  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline; CIH, CSP, ASP, or similar certification desired.
  • Expert-level knowledge of OSHA, DOT, environmental and EPA regulations and safety-related federal, state, and local regulations and laws.
  • ISO 45001/14001 experience a plus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations.
  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • A demonstrated track record of proactively identifying needs, and then creating, resourcing, and leading execution of plans to fulfill those needs.
  • Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CIH, CSP, ASP, or similar certification desired.
  • ISO 45001/14001 experience a plus.
