About the position

The Director of Engineering for Drug Product at Moderna will provide visionary leadership and technical expertise across global manufacturing operations, focusing on sterile drug product processes. This role involves building and leading a Technical Authority organization, ensuring global standardization of processes, equipment, and systems, while driving excellence in capital project execution and continuous improvement initiatives. The individual will also ensure compliance with regulatory standards and support innovation in manufacturing technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a Technical Authority organization to support manufacturing operations.
  • Act as the Global Subject Matter Expert (SME) in primary and secondary packaging, filling, labeling, and closing equipment.
  • Establish and maintain best practices and functional standards for global engineering processes.
  • Lead Front End Planning (FEP) for capital projects, overseeing the complete project lifecycle.
  • Develop and own specifications for filling, labeling, and packaging equipment, and manage vendor selection.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including validation and qualification activities.
  • Drive innovation by identifying new technologies for filling and closing equipment and vision inspection systems.
  • Serve as a problem solver for complex engineering challenges and support deviation investigations.
  • Develop and maintain global training standards for technicians and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 20+ years of experience in engineering roles within the pharmaceutical industry, specifically with drug product manufacturing equipment.
