About the position

The Director, Engineering position at Merck Sharp & Dohme is a full-time leadership role responsible for overseeing the Development and Commercialization Team (DCT) within the Manufacturing Division. This position entails guiding drug product candidates from development to launch, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities. The Director will lead cross-functional teams, manage risks, and develop innovative solutions to ensure successful product commercialization. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and strategic thinking to navigate complex challenges in pharmaceutical manufacturing and drug development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Development and Commercialization Team (DCT) in the Manufacturing Division.
• Accountable for delivering a fully integrated development and commercialization strategy to the Development Commercialization Review Committee (DCRC).
• Critically assess team deliverables and foster a collaborative environment.
• Prioritize and mitigate risks impacting technical, operational, and regulatory success.
• Analyze and develop innovative solutions to unforeseen circumstances.
• Oversee the execution of DCT deliverables, including robust processes and analytics.
• Represent CMC and communicate effectively across governance bodies and stakeholders.
• Influence and challenge the xDT strategy to ensure a robust CMC strategy is achieved.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in a relevant Engineering or Scientific field.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and/or drug development.
• Demonstrated expertise in technical aspects across various functions including DS, DP, Device, Packaging, and Analytical.
• Experience with product development and new product introduction.
