About the position

The Director of Enterprise Data will lead the Data Governance Reporting and Data Issue Management functions within the Enterprise Data Governance organization at First Citizens Bank. This pivotal role is responsible for shaping and implementing robust data governance practices as part of a multi-year transformation roadmap. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading cross-functional teams within a large financial institution.

Responsibilities

• Define the vision, goals, objectives, roadmap, and execution plans for data governance reporting and data issue management functions.
• Build, lead, and mentor a cross-functional team.
• Collaborate with business, technology, and risk partners to ensure alignment and effective implementation of required practices.
• Design, implement, and maintain frameworks, standards, processes, and procedures related to data governance reporting and data issue management.
• Execute on tactical and strategic commitments as part of the roadmap to meet risk, audit, and regulatory commitments.
• Drive the design and implementation of strategic technology capabilities to scale, automate, and sustain data governance reporting and data issue management.
• Develop and manage metrics and reporting mechanisms to track progress and maturity for data governance adoption, data quality, and data issue management.
• Communicate effectively with executive leadership, providing regular updates on initiatives, risks, and value delivery.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in data governance and management in financial services.
• Find opportunities for leveraging new technologies and methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in Risk Management including Enterprise Data Warehouse OR High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of experience in Risk Management including Enterprise Data Warehouse.
• Understanding of data governance and data management best practices.
• Knowledge of technologies and trends impacting the financial service industry.

Nice-to-haves

• Data Governance or Data Management certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP) are optional but preferred.
