About the position

The Director of Environmental Services at Friends Care Community is responsible for overseeing the housekeeping and laundry departments within a retirement community. This role ensures a clean and sanitary living environment for residents by managing staff, coordinating services with other departments, and maintaining compliance with health regulations. Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct housekeeping and laundry departments.
  • Assist the housekeeping and laundry staff.
  • Assume the administrative duties, responsibilities and accountability of directing the housekeeping and laundry staff.
  • Coordinate services of laundry and housekeeping with other departments (i.e. Dietary, Nursing, Activities, etc.).
  • Assist with Infection Control.
  • Participate and be prepared for various inspections including the Ohio Department of Health.
  • Perform administrative duties that include purchasing the necessary supplies within budgetary guidelines.
  • Determine departmental staffing requirements necessary to meet the needs of our residents and staff.
  • Make daily rounds to ensure that housekeeping and laundry personnel are performing required duties.
  • Ensure that department personnel are following established safety regulations.
  • Assist in preparing and planning the budget with the Administrator.

Requirements

  • Nursing home experience
  • Assisted living experience
  • Knowledgeable in housekeeping and laundry
  • Leadership ability and willingness to work with other staff members
  • Desire to work with older adults
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant it
  • Satisfactory criminal history background check
  • Physical exam by a licensed physician and a negative drug screen.
