About the position

The Director of Environmental Services at The Valley Health System is responsible for directing and administering the Environmental Services Program. This role is crucial in maintaining the hospital environment in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition, which includes all associated buildings and clinics. The Director will supervise and coordinate the work activities of the Environmental Services personnel, ensuring that department objectives are met by providing high-quality environmental services. This position requires establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other departments to provide a unified approach to patient care. Additionally, the Director will oversee the performance of Environmental Services staff and front-line personnel, ensuring that all operations align with the hospital's standards and regulations. As the West Henderson Hospital is currently under construction and expected to open in late 2024, the Director will play a pivotal role in preparing the Environmental Services team for the new facility. The new hospital will feature 150 beds, a 37-bay emergency department, surgical suites, endoscopy suites, cardiac catheterization labs, and various other specialized treatment areas. The Director will need to ensure that the Environmental Services team is equipped and trained to maintain these facilities to the highest standards upon opening.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and administer the Environmental Services Program.
  • Maintain the hospital environment in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work activities of Environmental Services personnel.
  • Achieve department objectives by providing quality environmental services.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments.
  • Provide overall direction and management of the performance of EVS staff and front-line staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent management experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in housekeeping within a healthcare/hospital environment, including 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Full knowledge of pertinent regulatory agencies and the policies, codes, standards, and regulations for a healthcare environment.
