About the position

The Director of Event Management is responsible for developing and executing the business strategy for the Event Management team. This role oversees the department's direction, team assignments, budget, and project management, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction through regular meetings with business unit leaders. The incumbent operates at both strategic and tactical levels of event planning and execution, translating business objectives into effective event experiences, including live and virtual national sales meetings and other corporate events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Event Management team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain strong relationships and communication with cross-functional partners to drive alignment and execution of events.
  • Develop KPIs and create analytics to track event engagement and conversion, communicating insights to executive leadership.
  • Oversee and execute customer and corporate events, including site selection, technology inspection, and vendor contract negotiations.
  • Manage a comprehensive budget tracking system in partnership with the Finance department, planning and reconciling event budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field; CMP certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the events and convention industry, with 7+ years as the primary owner of large events.
  • Expertise in hotel/convention facility operations and hotel reservation systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of event vendors, technology, trends, and best practices.
  • Experience with CVENT and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and pricing models.
