The Director Facilities at St. Jude Medical Center is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling the activities of the Plant Operations and Maintenance functions necessary for maintaining the hospital's physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utilities, and grounds in a safe and operative working condition. This role is crucial in ensuring that the hospital facilities are well-maintained and compliant with health and safety standards. The Director will report to the Executive Director of Facilities Operations and will be accountable for maintaining an effective organization, administering labor and material controls, and training maintenance personnel in safety and effective management practices. In this position, the Director Facilities will communicate effectively with the Executive Management Team (EMT) regarding the physical and structural conditions of the hospital facilities and the status of ongoing work. They will coordinate the repair of equipment and recommend necessary replacements or additions to the physical plant and building systems. The Director will also monitor departmental personnel matters, including interviewing and hiring new staff, conducting performance evaluations, and managing employee grievances in collaboration with Human Resources. The Director will develop, implement, track, evaluate, and revise departmental policies and procedures, ensuring that staff are well-informed about these guidelines. They will also be responsible for performing quality assurance checks, developing the annual operating budget, and monitoring it post-adoption. This role requires collaboration with other departments and administration to negotiate priorities, plan work schedules, and manage job assignments effectively. The Director will also ensure compliance with Environment of Care standards and work closely with Accounts Payable and Materials Management departments.
