About the position

The Director of Finance and Accounting at Advertise Purple is a pivotal role that focuses on driving the financial health and operational success of the agency. This position is responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, developing budgets, managing risks, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth and long-term sustainability. The Director will work closely with the CEO and executive team to align financial strategies with the company's goals and objectives, providing insights and recommendations that drive decision-making. In this role, the Director will lead the annual budgeting process, which includes forecasting and variance analysis, and will oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. The Director will also manage and lead the accounting department, which encompasses accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions. Implementing and maintaining robust accounting systems and controls will be essential, as will optimizing and streamlining accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Risk management is another critical aspect of this role, where the Director will identify and mitigate financial risks to the organization, oversee insurance policies, and ensure adequate coverage for all assets and operations. Additionally, the Director will act as a key liaison with banks, investors, auditors, and other financial stakeholders, preparing and presenting financial reports to the board of directors. This position is hybrid, requiring in-office presence on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Santa Monica headquarters, and is open only to candidates in California.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks.
