About the position

The Director of Finance Operations at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana is responsible for overseeing cash operations, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. This role involves coordinating departmental activities, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and providing leadership to prioritize goals and objectives related to financial operations. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including senior management and auditors, to ensure effective financial management and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Direct cash operations, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Coordinate departmental activities with General Accounting.
  • Assist internal and external auditors as needed.
  • Provide leadership on prioritizing goals and objectives for financial operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the accurate reporting of daily cash positions and monitor daily receipts and payments.
  • Ensure proper processing of premiums and related transactions in Accounts Receivable.
  • Work closely with Enrollment Membership and Billing to ensure compliance with payment postings.
  • Direct vendor payment processes to ensure compliance with regulatory entities.
  • Administer claims reimbursements for self-fund clients and review outstanding receivables.
  • Manage and mentor staff in career development and growth opportunities.
  • Prepare and present yearly budget for Finance Operations departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required.
  • 7 years of financial operations experience required.
  • 5 years of progressive leadership experience required.
  • 3 years of people management experience required.
  • Working knowledge of financial software (PeopleSoft preferred).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of core administrative platform (FACETS preferred).
