About the position

The Finance Director at Malaria No More (MNM) is responsible for overseeing the financial management processes of a $10 million international organization. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards and regulations while managing a small finance team. The Finance Director will work closely with the COO to manage day-to-day finances, prepare budgets, and provide critical financial analyses to support decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation and continuous improvement of key finance processes to generate quality, timely, and accurate performance reports.
  • Direct and supervise the Staff Accountant, managing accounts payable, revenue reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Develop annual operating budgets and grant budgets in coordination with the COO and budget owners.
  • Lead internal audits and ensure successful preparation and completion of annual audits with independent audit firms.
  • Review and implement internal controls and processes.
  • Prepare grant financial reporting requirements, including monitoring grant expenses and fund balances.
  • Assist in payroll review and manage cash flow and banking activities.
  • Prepare Board financial reporting for biannual meetings.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience required, with nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with GAAP and audit procedures.
  • Excellent judgment, high ethical standards, and trustworthiness with sensitive information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally with staff and Board members.
  • Hands-on, results-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with Financial Edge accounting software strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with for-profit financial management practices.
  • Experience with domestic and international consolidation and intercompany transactions.
