About the position

The Director of Finance at Arch Capital Group Ltd. is responsible for overseeing various aspects of financial operations related to losses, including review, booking, and analysis. This role provides essential financial support for a designated book of business, ensuring accuracy and effective communication both internally and externally. The position also involves participation in strategic initiatives such as the Datastores project, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency in a growing business environment.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate strong business partnerships while gaining a thorough understanding of the business being supported.
  • Work closely with underwriting, claims, and claims finance teams to provide necessary financial operational support.
  • Review binders/contracts to ensure accounting aligns with contract terms for deductible analysis and financial booking.
  • Communicate and interact with IT personnel, TPA's, underwriters, and various external and internal contacts on a daily basis.
  • Assist with testing and implementation of new systems/processes including BU Datastores.
  • Work with large sets of data to identify issues and provide suggestions for resolution.
  • Train and manage offshore staff.
  • Prepare and review gross and ceded loss entries.
  • Review and approve breached deductibles.
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement changes to increase operational efficiencies.
  • Perform routine research and maintenance on policies, specific claims, and loss information.
  • Review and analyze monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Complete key assignments/special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of North American property and casualty insurance industry experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
  • CPCU or other Insurance designations is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player with strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and recognize anomalies.
  • Dynamic and motivated individual capable of handling complexity.
  • Ability to effectively communicate analysis and conclusions to financial information end-users.
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, and developmental skills.
