About the position

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial review, reporting, and analysis of operating company results. This role involves coordinating short and long-term financial plans, facilitating the prioritization of operational and capital expenditures in alignment with AEP's strategy, and supporting regulatory activities. The Director will also optimize organizational effectiveness and efficiency, manage budget preparation, and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing financial review and analysis of operating company results against financial targets.
• Coordinate interfaces with various departments including Generation, Transmission, and Accounting.
• Support regulatory activities, including expert testimony and financial analysis of case filings.
• Oversee the preparation of operating company budgets and variance reporting.
• Monitor financial information such as forecasts, income statements, and cash flows.
• Coordinate the preparation of the annual incentive compensation plan and ongoing reporting of results.
• Ensure adherence to AEP policies related to financial activities and internal controls.
• Conduct economic analyses of alternative business solutions to optimize costs and returns.
• Develop financial plans to achieve strategic goals for the operating company.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in business management, financial planning, and budgeting.
• Experience in a supervisory and management capacity.
• Regulatory experience with capability to testify as an expert witness preferred.

• MBA and professional certification in finance or accounting preferred.
