About the position

The Director of Financial Services and Accounts Receivable is responsible for overseeing the entire operation of Financial Services, which encompasses Accounts Receivable, Financial Aid Disbursements, and the Business Office. This role is crucial in ensuring that the financial operations of the college run smoothly and efficiently. The Director will lead a team dedicated to managing student receivables, ensuring compliance with federal and state financial regulations, and implementing best practices in financial management. The position requires a strong understanding of financial services procedures within a college or university setting, as well as the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments. In this role, the Director will be expected to develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations. This includes continuous review and improvement of existing processes, as well as the introduction of new guidelines that align with the institution's goals. The Director will also be responsible for supervising and training staff, ensuring that all team members are equipped to meet the diverse needs of the college's financial operations. The position requires strong research skills to stay informed about state and federal laws and regulations that impact financial services. The Director will need to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to convey complex financial information to various stakeholders. Additionally, the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and direct multiple offices is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the overall operation of Financial Services, including Accounts Receivable, Financial Aid Disbursements, and the Business Office.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for financial operations.
  • Supervise and train employees, organizing and prioritizing major initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state financial regulations.
  • Conduct research related to state and federal laws and regulations affecting financial services.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding financial matters.
  • Manage student receivables and oversee the automated accounts receivable database system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Business-related field from an accredited institution, or an Associate's Degree with seven years of relevant experience.
  • Five years of experience in the management of Accounting, Accounts Receivable, and/or Financial Services with a Bachelor's Degree, or seven years with an Associate's Degree.
  • Knowledge of college and university financial services procedures.
  • Research skills related to state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Ability to direct multiple offices and perform multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations and college financial policies.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in student receivables at a college or university.
  • Experience with an automated accounts receivable database system such as Colleague.
