The Director for Security, Risk & Emergency Management will lead and provide administrative direction and oversight for public safety and security operations, risk management, and emergency planning and preparedness. This position actively supports and engages in CBC's values for student learning, culture of excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion, sustainability, and wellbeing. The incumbent collaborates with a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders on issues related to the safety and security of all people, assets, resources, and processes across the organization. This position reports to the Vice President for Administrative Services. The Director will provide leadership and direction to Security and Emergency Management department personnel, ensuring a high standard of service. They will lead and coordinate with emergency management personnel to implement college-wide emergency preparedness planning and training, and establish an advisory group for emergency management planning, training, and operations. The Director will also advise College leadership on emergency preparedness and recommend improvements, serving as a liaison between the College and external emergency response agencies. In addition, the Director will lead and direct the emergency management and security teams on the planning, coordination, and implementation of safety preparedness and emergency preparedness training sessions and exercises. They will serve as the primary internal communications officer for security, risk, and emergency management communications, coordinating with the public relations office on external communications. The role includes planning and coordinating with department personnel to provide 24/7 campus security coverage, overseeing campus safety programs and access control systems and protocols, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations such as the Clery Act and VAWA. The Director will conduct annual risk assessments, develop strategies to mitigate risks, and create or update risk management plans. They will also maintain a cohesive and service-oriented emergency management and security team, develop departmental policies and procedures, and manage the department budget. Reporting and maintaining departmental records are also key responsibilities, along with performing additional tasks as assigned.
