About the position

The Director/General Manager of Hotel Operations at Universal Kids Resort is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of a select-service onsite hotel. This role focuses on executing hotel operations, managing staff, and enhancing guest and team member satisfaction while maximizing financial performance. The position also involves pre-opening responsibilities, ensuring that all hotel standards and procedures are met, and collaborating with various departments to create a seamless guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate hotel operations including housekeeping, front desk, and reservations.
  • Oversee the development of pre-opening efforts for the hotel, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Coordinate hotel security and emergency efforts with the resort-wide security team.
  • Develop and deliver Operational Standard Operating Procedures for hotel functions.
  • Assist in facilities program design and technology selection for operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and upkeep of hotel property.
  • Drive the assessment and adoption of hotel-related IT systems and applications.
  • Develop key Safety and Security policies and procedures for hotel operations.
  • Responsible for the financial performance of hotel departments and developing the annual operating budget.
  • Partner with Marketing & Sales for forecasting and revenue management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel/Hospitality Management preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in a progressive hotel leadership role, including Hotel GM or Rooms Division Manager.
  • Experience in opening a new hotel from planning through construction to opening.
  • Outstanding leadership and communication abilities.
  • Proven track record in the hotel industry demonstrating achievement of financial and guest service-related goals.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and guest services skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Experience in properties serving children and families.
