About the position

The Director, Sales Operations will be a key member of the GIBU Leadership Team at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, responsible for driving commercial excellence within the GIBU. This role involves overseeing the development and deployment of sales excellence capabilities that align with Takeda's strategic objectives. The Director will work closely with GIBU Leadership and cross-functional teams to identify needs and gather input to enhance efficiency and effectiveness for the GIBU sales team, which includes the IBD Sales Team, the Rare Sales Team, and the Key Account Management Team. The Director will lead business process improvements and sales reporting enhancements, identifying opportunities to leverage best practices based on both internal and external benchmarks. Additionally, the role requires monitoring industry-leading practices and evolving trends to ensure appropriate adoption within the GIBU. In this position, the Director will oversee various operational aspects, including sales reporting, incentive compensation, data management, field technology, and compliance operations. They will lead a team focused on driving business process improvements and will be accountable for the sales support provided to the Head of the GIBU team, enabling the execution of cross-brand strategic projects. The Director will also be responsible for budget management and will guide key GIBU initiatives, ensuring alignment with culture and people initiatives. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to foster collaboration across multiple functions to achieve the GIBU's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee development and deployment of GIBU sales excellence and effectiveness capabilities aligned with Takeda's GIBU objectives.
  • Lead a team to drive business process improvements within the GIBU.
  • Oversee field sales reporting, key account management models, and operational excellence.
  • Define new KPIs aligned to current engagement frameworks and channels.
  • Accountable for the SFE Leads who define and deploy future engagement models for field teams.
  • Oversee strategy, planning, and execution of GIBU-wide events.
  • Partner with Communications to ensure alignment of culture and people initiatives to GIBU KPIs and priorities.
  • Lead and guide key GIBU initiatives, including development of work plans, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Own the budget management for the GIBU franchise and function teams.
  • Provide sales support to the Head of the GIBU team for cross-brand strategic projects.
  • Lead SFEs to perform deep analysis and develop actionable plans based on market data.
  • Identify strengths, developmental opportunities, and career goals of team members.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance management for team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10 years of pharmaceutical sales, marketing, or related functional experience within the bio-pharmaceutical industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management-level experience
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership capability and building stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple functions.
  • Knowledge of key payor and government/advocacy trends.
  • Success in creating initiatives/programs and executing plans.
  • Ability to coach, delegate, and motivate a team.
  • Knowledge of key pharma systems and processes, including Incentive Comp plans and CRM.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MA/MS, PharmD, etc.)

  • 2+ years of leading teams
  • 8+ years' experience in project management/project leadership
  • Experience in Managed Markets, Marketing, Commercial Operations, or analytics roles
  • Experience with sales force sizing and alignment.
