About the position

The Director of Global Demand Planning at Shiseido is a pivotal role that requires a deep understanding of demand planning business processes and a proven track record in enhancing existing demand processes. The ideal candidate will have expertise in statistical forecasting methods, including historical data cleansing and the application of best-fit models to optimize forecast accuracy, particularly in the context of varying demand seasonality and volatility. This position is crucial for creating market-level innovation forecasts at granular SKU/retailer combinations on a monthly basis, ensuring that input assumptions are aligned and managed throughout the launch planning process, from initial feasibility assessments to shipment. This role is integral to the new product development process, which is essential for delivering innovation to the market. Collaboration is key in this position, as the Director will work closely with various operational and supply chain functions to mitigate supply risks effectively. Experience in working with internal finance and business development teams is also highly valued. From a technical standpoint, the candidate should demonstrate proficiency in utilizing SAP IBP's demand planning module, leveraging its capabilities to enhance collaboration across teams in the US and key regional teams, thereby unlocking value within SAC operations and supporting the brand's growth. Familiarity with advanced planning tools such as APO, SAP IBP, Logility, and JDA Manugistics is considered a significant advantage. The role involves leading monthly demand review and consensus meetings with leadership from US sales, marketing, and finance teams to ensure that demand aligns with business needs and financial plans. The Director will also collaborate with key US retailers and sales teams to align retailer forecasts with specific programs and events, manage end-to-end innovation forecasting for the US domestic business, and participate in incoming supply review meetings to communicate risks to demand and orders. Additionally, the role includes conducting ad-hoc analyses as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly demand review and consensus meetings with leadership in US sales, marketing, and finance teams to ensure reconciliation of demand to business needs and financial plans.
  • Collaborate with key US retailers and sales teams to gain alignment with retailer forecasts and specific programs and events.
  • Manage new innovation forecasting end-to-end for the US domestic business.
  • Attend incoming supply review meetings to understand and communicate risks to demand and orders.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis as required.

Requirements

  • 4-year bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred.
  • Major in Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field is a plus.
  • 8-10 years of experience in demand planning, preferably in prestige, mass beauty, or CPG sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead meetings to drive actions and accountability across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely to peers and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt in a highly collaborative environment, being a team player and fitting with the NARS brand and culture.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to manipulate large raw data sets, use advanced formulas, pivot tables, and macros.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with enterprise advanced planning tools (APO, SAP IBP, Logility, JDA Manugistics).
  • Prior SAP IBP or APO experience is a major plus.
