About the position

The Director, Global HEOR & RWE at Daiichi Sankyo is a pivotal role focused on developing and driving the Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) and Real-World Evidence (RWE) strategies for oncology franchise products. This position is integral to aligning with key global and regional functions to ensure successful market access strategies across the organization. The Director will lead the implementation of HEOR and RWE initiatives, generating evidence that supports the market access strategy for Daiichi Sankyo's oncology products. This includes the development of global health economic models, global value dossiers, RWE studies, and patient-reported outcome (PRO) analyses. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including clinical, medical affairs, and commercial organizations, to drive product evidence strategies that incorporate payer perspectives into clinical development programs. In this role, the Director will be responsible for preparing global value dossiers that articulate product value propositions and supporting evidence, ensuring alignment with product development strategies. The position involves planning and conducting various HEOR and RWE studies, including early economic models and burden of illness studies, while also developing and validating PRO instruments for clinical trials. The Director will assess RWE data gaps and build a cross-functional evidence generation strategy to support reimbursement submissions. Additionally, the role includes managing projects outsourced to external consultancies, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. The Director will also maintain a deep understanding of HEOR methods and the evolving public health policy landscape in key markets such as the USA, Europe, and Japan. This position is designed for a strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities, who can effectively navigate a matrix organization and foster collaboration across various internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will be a key expert leader, driving the HEOR and RWE strategies that support Daiichi Sankyo's vision of being a leader in oncology and delivering innovative treatments to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of global value dossiers presenting product value propositions and supporting evidence.
  • Plan and conduct HEOR and RWE studies such as early economic models and burden of illness studies.
  • Conduct literature reviews to build payer evidence and economic models.
  • Propose and implement analysis of clinical trial data for cost-effectiveness models.
  • Assess RWE data gaps and build cross-functional evidence generation strategies for reimbursement submissions.
  • Build global cost-effectiveness and budget impact models for HTA submissions.
  • Develop HEOR and RWE communications, including manuscripts and presentations, to support value propositions.
  • Manage projects outsourced to external consultancies, ensuring delivery according to milestones and budget.
  • Enhance knowledge about HEOR methods and public health policy in major markets.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration between Global Market Access and Pricing and other internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., health economics, medicine, pharmacy, public health, epidemiology) required.
  • PhD in a relevant discipline preferred.
  • 10 or more years in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, with at least 8 years in the HEOR field.
  • Hands-on experience with HEOR methodologies across all phases of the product life cycle preferred.
  • Track record of successful application of HEOR & RWE with key external stakeholders in major international markets.
  • Knowledge and experience in Oncology therapy areas strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates understanding of key drug development processes and strategies.
  • Demonstrates understanding of HEOR methods and RWD, and their integration with clinical studies.
  • Deep understanding of the commercial and market access policy environment across major markets.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to navigate a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking and team leadership capabilities.
  • Outstanding writing and presentation skills, with the ability to work under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience within a pharmaceutical industry, consulting, or equivalent organization involved in healthcare technologies.
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to identify trends in RWE, HEOR, HTA assessments, and market access.
