About the position

The Global Director of Men's Merchandising at Billabong is responsible for developing, managing, and executing global and regional strategies for the Men's product line. This role involves comprehensive analysis, product expertise, and marketplace insights to define the overall merchandising strategy aimed at driving long-term growth and profitability. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and includes both on-site and remote work options.

Responsibilities

  • Build global and regional seasonal merchandise strategy and assortment plan for all categories.
  • Analyze past seasons, competition, and forecast category trends for new seasonal development.
  • Provide seasonal hindsight, category dashboards, and KPI reporting to management.
  • Aggregate analytics to build a financial foundation for inline and speed to market architecture.
  • Plan and forecast revenue, unit volume, and productivity for Men's product ranges.
  • Approve costs, wholesales, and MSRPs to meet company margin goals.
  • Collaborate with Product Development to execute seasonal calendars.
  • Manage seasonal business forecasting through the product creation process.
  • Partner with design and development teams to review prototypes and samples.
  • Manage PLM data seasonally and maintain data integrity.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing merchandising team.
  • Create and maintain a yearly budget for sampling and departmental expenditures.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented team culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Retail Merchandising preferred.
  • 10+ years' experience in Apparel and accessory product (merchandising, buying, selling, development).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Strong retail math and PLM system knowledge.
  • Strong product/design aesthetic and ability to identify future product opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
