About the position

In this vital role, the Director, Global Portfolio Communications, Rare Disease, TEPEZZA is responsible for shaping the global strategy for Amgen's Rare Disease therapeutic area, with a specific focus on TEPEZZA for the treatment of Thyroid Eye Disease. This position will support the Global Commercial Organization, specifically the Global Commercial Capabilities and Therapeutic Area Governance teams, in shaping and developing product communications strategies in advance of product launches through lifecycle management. The role will report to the Executive Director, Global Portfolio Communications & Advocacy and will be based in the US with the expectation of travel to Thousand Oaks headquarters, domestic and international congresses, and key events. As an integral member of Amgen's “global with local” model, the Director will lead the development of global communications plans for TEPEZZA for Thyroid Eye Disease in support of successful market building, in-country launches, and lifecycle management. The position requires interaction cross-functionally with a variety of teams, serving as a member of the Integrated Brand Team (IBT), providing input on ongoing strategy and approach. The Director will also develop communications toolkits, trainings, and template materials for local country affiliates to customize and use locally. Additionally, the role involves driving global insights gathering activities related to communications, such as regional media advisory board meetings and social media audits. The Director will work closely with the U.S. TEPEZZA communications team to pull through learnings and best practices for local launches and ensure consistent messaging and approach. Partnering with Global Patient Advocacy on disease state education and elevating the patient experience is also a key responsibility. The ideal candidate will possess a curious nature and a desire to do things differently to best serve patients and the brand, demonstrating knowledge of key communications trends and the ability to navigate regional differences and priorities while managing diverse opinions and perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of global communications plans for TEPEZZA for Thyroid Eye Disease.
  • Support successful market building, in-country launches, and lifecycle management.
  • Interact cross-functionally with various teams as a member of the Integrated Brand Team (IBT).
  • Develop communications toolkits, trainings, and template materials for local country affiliates.
  • Drive global insights gathering activities related to communications, such as regional media advisory board meetings and social media audits.
  • Work closely with the U.S. TEPEZZA communications team to ensure consistent messaging and approach.
  • Partner with Global Patient Advocacy on disease state education and elevating the patient experience.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of Communications experience OR Master's degree and 8 years of Communications experience OR Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Communications experience.
  • 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in international regions beyond the US and supporting local affiliates worldwide.
  • Experience launching medicines, including outside of the US.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Corporate Affairs related positions with increasingly progressive and impactful roles in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other industry area with strong regulatory oversight.
