About the position

Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a Director, Global Real World Evidence (RWE) to join our Global Commercial Strategy Organization (GCSO) based in Raritan, NJ. This pivotal role is designed for a leader who will spearhead the strategy development and execution of industry-leading RWE capabilities and talent development across the GCSO. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the VP Global RWE and other leaders to drive the transformation of GCSO, optimizing global go-to-market launch planning strategies through innovative and strategic decisions informed by RWE. The Director Global RWE will leverage deep industry expertise and critical cross-functional insights to identify opportunities for accelerating RWE growth within GCSO and implement actionable strategies. This role requires building key partnerships with various departments, including Global Medical Affairs, Market Access, and regional commercial teams, to ensure alignment with regional/local RWE stakeholder strategies and contribute to execution as needed. The individual will also play a crucial role in supporting the medical affairs and market access RWE team, ensuring that RWE initiatives are effectively integrated into commercial strategies. In addition to leading the development of RWE strategies, the Director will be responsible for defining data and analytics strategies for specific RWE projects, sharing best practices, and expanding the internal knowledge base regarding evolving methodologies in RWE studies. The role also involves refining governance processes, navigating complex technology and legal landscapes, and influencing senior leadership on RWE opportunities that differentiate the business. The Director will coordinate the execution of Evidence Lab initiatives across therapeutic areas and work towards establishing a global center of excellence for RWE research, ensuring that scientific standards are met and strategic initiatives are implemented effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy development and execution of RWE capabilities across the GCSO.
  • Collaborate with Global Medical Affairs and Market Access to co-create RWE strategies.
  • Develop insights on early pipeline assets to drive global commercial strategies.
  • Define data and analytics strategies for RWE projects across GCSO.
  • Share best practices regarding RWE study methodologies.
  • Refine governance processes and contribute to local and global standards in methodologies.
  • Assist in leadership for RWE capabilities and talent development across GCSO.
  • Influence senior leadership on RWE opportunities and investments.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop impactful global strategies.
  • Coordinate and execute Evidence Lab initiatives across therapeutic areas.
  • Build a global center of excellence for RWE research and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and coordinate capability building activities aligned with RWE strategy.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as epidemiology, health economics, econometrics, statistics, or related; PhD preferred.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in RWE, commercial, medical affairs, or R&D environments.
  • Expert knowledge in RWE, epidemiology, health economics, and outcomes research.
  • Strong technical domain knowledge to lead and grow a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Experience in developing and executing strategies.
  • Proven experience in managing a complex portfolio of projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Expertise in observational study methodologies from design to reporting.
  • Experience with claims databases and electronic medical records.
  • Significant publication track record in relevant journals.
  • Experience interacting with academia, health systems, and payers.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
