About the position

The Director, Global Social Media is a pivotal role within our organization, responsible for shaping and executing our social media strategy on a global scale. This seasoned social leader will be instrumental in advancing innovative strategies that foster community engagement and drive brand storytelling initiatives. The Director will develop cohesive social-first strategies that align with our brand and product marketing objectives, ultimately generating brand awareness, engagement, and loyalty while nurturing a community of brand advocates. This position requires a close alignment with the Founder's vision, ensuring that the brand's philosophy is effectively communicated across all platforms. In this role, the Director will create and drive a roadmap to excel on key platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. They will lead the charge in generating innovative content ideas that are both scalable and unique to Drunk Elephant, focusing on key digital platforms including Paid Media and E-Commerce. The Director will also oversee all Lo-Fi content creation, ensuring that our organic social channels, paid media, and retailer/PDP needs are met with high-quality content. Additionally, the Director will champion social media initiatives globally, providing guidance to various markets that manage their own social channels and collaborating with strategic partners to leverage brand-led social assets. A strong emphasis on measurement and analytics is crucial, as the Director will be responsible for advancing our methods of assessing the value and impact of our social channel activations. This role is not only about strategy but also about execution, requiring a hands-on approach to community management and content oversight. The Director will be tasked with responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner, ensuring that our social media community remains active and engaged. They will also support digital innovation initiatives aimed at driving awareness among Drunk Elephant audiences, while overseeing community management strategies and day-to-day execution, including response protocols and crisis management. The Director will review and approve monthly content calendars for key markets, such as China, and will be responsible for social media reporting, actioning key insights to drive evolution and change within the organization. Leading and managing direct reports will be a key responsibility, providing guidance and support to help achieve performance goals. Collaboration with cross-functional departments, including Global Marketing, US Marketing, and International Business, will be essential to integrate social media strategies into broader marketing initiatives. Staying up to date with industry trends and changes in algorithms and platforms will be critical to implementing innovative practices that keep us ahead of the competition.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and accelerate the brand's Global Social footprint, focusing on priority channels Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Reimagine and reset key brand channel content pillars, DNA, and strategy.
  • Innovate new strategic thinking and optimize performance across all social media activations.
  • Build differentiating social campaigns and programming designed to nurture community, support acquisition, and drive engagement.
  • Grow, cultivate, and maintain an active and loyal social media community.
  • Respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support digital innovation initiatives with an owned strategy to drive awareness with Drunk Elephant audiences.
  • Oversee all Lo-Fi Content creation in collaboration with Creative across multiple consumer-facing channels.
  • Partner with priority markets on content requests and compelling social co-op opportunities.
  • Oversee community management strategy and day-to-day execution, including response protocol and crisis response.
  • Review and approve monthly content calendars for key markets.
  • Oversee and approve monthly and project-specific social media reporting, actioning key insights for evolution and change.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years experience in social media and digital marketing.
  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant field.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for social media, community, and skincare.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, creative, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage and train team members.
  • Proficient in Excel, Power Point, and Word.
  • Familiarity with online analytical tools and social scheduling applications, such as Dash Hudson and Tribe Dynamics.
