About The Position

The Director of the GSB Initiative at Stanford's Graduate School of Business will lead the development and implementation of a new initiative aimed at enhancing the school's reputation in the field of investing. This role involves collaborating with faculty and stakeholders to create a strategic vision, develop programs, and ensure alignment with the needs of students, alumni, and industry practitioners. The Director will also oversee operational activities, manage budgets, and foster relationships with key stakeholders to secure funding and support for the initiative.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree or combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience.
  • Five or more years of relevant 'start-up' experience or equivalent, planning and executing relevant extracurricular programs and working with faculty, lecturers, students, and alumni in an academic environment. Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset coupled with the ability to envision, create and execute programs. Ten or more years is preferred.
  • Five or more years relevant experience managing staff.
  • Experience managing a budget and developing financial plans, program partnerships and funding sources.
  • Advanced oral, written and analytical skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills. Demonstrated successful executive presence is highly desirable.
  • Ability to manage budgets and develop financial plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in the language of investing and finance. Understanding the investing industry is desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining relationships with senior business leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership direction of program design and initiative development.
  • Define the overall operational activities of research, teaching, and co- and extracurricular program(s); allocate appropriate staffing and other resources to achieve objectives; and provide strategic advice to faculty directors and senior management.
  • Devise and implement vision, strategy, goals, and resource development in consultation with the faculty director.
  • Shape development of research and teaching programs, and extracurricular and co-curricular programs.
  • Define scope, hire, and provide guidance to program staff and instructors.
  • Assess program efficacy.
  • Align and prioritize needs and collaborate across multiple internal stakeholders (Finance, HR, external relations, marketing, MBAMSx programs, CMC, CSI, CES, etc).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with critical stakeholders (alumni, students, practitioners, employers, faculty).
  • Represent initiative stakeholders at senior-level meetings and conferences with internal and external constituents.
  • Work with the development team to secure ongoing financial resources.
  • Collaborate on funding proposals, presentations, messaging, and other development activities.
  • Participate in ongoing donor stewardship to maintain long-term funding.
  • Develop, maintain, and control the financial budget; shape strategy and long-range financial planning.
