About the position

The Director of Human Resources and Associate Relations at Beacon Health System is a pivotal role responsible for shaping the future of HR within the organization. This position will drive the transformation and optimization of the Human Resources department, reporting directly to the VP of HR Operations and Transformation. The Director will lead a multidisciplinary team in a matrix model and work closely with key stakeholders to enhance HR operations, foster Associate relations, and implement strategic initiatives. A strategic mindset, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for driving organizational change are essential for success in this role. In this capacity, the Director will partner with the VP of HR Operations and Transformation to develop and execute strategic initiatives that align with organizational goals. This includes leading the development and implementation of HR strategies, policies, and programs that support business objectives and drive employee engagement. The Director will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement and innovation in HR operations, leveraging best practices, technology, and AI solutions. Project management of assigned HR strategic initiatives will be a key responsibility. The role encompasses oversight of HR Shared Services functions, including payroll processing, benefits administration, onboarding, compliance administrative functions, and employee records management. The Director will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of HR services to employees, managers, and stakeholders, meeting service level agreements and performance targets. Streamlining HR processes, workflows, and systems to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and compliance is also a critical aspect of this position. In terms of Associate and Labor Relations, the Director will provide leadership and guidance on Associate relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, grievances, and conflict resolution. Ensuring compliance with labor laws, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements is paramount, and the Director will partner with legal counsel and labor relations specialists as needed. Proactive strategies and standard HR operating procedures will be developed and implemented to promote positive employee relations and mitigate risks. The Director will also play a significant role in mentoring, coaching, and developing the HR Operations Team, enhancing their business acumen, HR expertise, and strategic partnering skills. Change management initiatives will be coordinated under the direction of the VP to drive the adoption of new processes, technologies, and organizational structures. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement will be essential for successful implementation and sustainability of these initiatives. Overall, this role is integral to fostering a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement within the HR department and across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the transformation and optimization of the Human Resources department.
  • Develop and execute strategic HR initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee HR Shared Services functions including payroll, benefits, onboarding, and compliance.
  • Ensure efficient delivery of HR services to employees and stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership on Associate relations matters including investigations and conflict resolution.
  • Develop proactive strategies to promote positive employee relations and mitigate risks.
  • Mentor and develop the HR Operations Team to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Coordinate change management initiatives to drive adoption of new processes and technologies.
  • Engage stakeholders and manage resistance to change for successful implementation.
  • Serve as the HR Business Partner for Associates in the Beacon Central Office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Ten plus years of progressive experience in HR leadership roles, particularly in HR Shared Services and Employee Relations.
  • Strong labor relations and associate relations experience with expertise in leading investigations and conflict resolution.
  • Extensive knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proven track record of strategic HR leadership and implementation of HR initiatives.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving transformational change and building high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency in HR technology solutions, including HRIS and payroll systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Juris Doctor (JD) preferred but not required.
