About the position

The Director, HR Business Partner at Otsuka Pharmaceutical Company is responsible for leading all HR activities within their designated area, aligning with the company's overall people-related business goals. This role involves partnering with senior global R&D business leaders to shape and execute HR strategies, addressing complex organizational challenges, and fostering a performance-driven culture. The Director acts as a trusted advisor, navigating change and building organizations for the future while championing Otsuka's culture and values.

Responsibilities

  • Partner and trusted advisor to business leaders on complex organizational challenges.
  • Manage complex problems independently and navigate through ambiguity.
  • Liaise with global HR counterparts to support non-US-based talent and leaders.
  • Deliver strategies and solutions to address leadership and talent issues.
  • Diagnose organization effectiveness and manage implications of major changes.
  • Convert people & organization development strategies into measurable outcomes.
  • Identify performance needs and direct succession and workforce planning strategies.
  • Develop proactive organizational staffing strategies to recruit and retain top talent.
  • Consult on organization design, restructuring, and resource optimization initiatives.
  • Drive and support talent development through feedback, coaching, and assessments.
  • Lead a performance culture and reinforce performance management strategies.
  • Use analytics to provide insights regarding organizational trends and tactics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional experts to design and execute talent management strategies.
  • Ensure life cycle transactions are managed consistently with HR Operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as an HRBP, preferably supporting R&D functions.
  • 8+ years of overall HR experience, including Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, and HRIS.
  • HR experience in the pharmaceutical and/or life sciences industry is strongly preferred.
  • Strong skills in influencing, negotiating, decision making, and resilience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, project management, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
  • Understanding of HR legal compliance requirements.
  • Ability to coach and counsel business leaders effectively.
