About the position

The HR Director Field Operations position is a pivotal role within a growing Construction Services Company, responsible for providing HR Business Leadership to the Western Division locations. This role reports directly to the VP of HR and serves as a Strategic Business Partner, working closely with Operational Leadership to execute the company's goals across multiple site branches. The Director will be instrumental in building strong relationships with the Regional VP of Operations and the VP of HR, ensuring alignment and collaboration in achieving organizational objectives. In this capacity, the Director will implement best practices related to employee accountability, workplace culture, employee engagement, and the code of conduct. A key responsibility will be to lead and develop HR professionals across the division, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. The role also involves participating in mergers and acquisitions from an HR perspective, integrating new employees into the company, and standardizing HR practices while addressing organizational design, succession planning, performance management, and staffing needs. Additionally, the Director will provide coaching and counseling to management and leadership teams on HR policies and practices, ensuring compliance with California employment laws and effective labor/union relations. This position requires a dynamic personality with solid leadership capabilities, as the Director will be expected to influence and drive HR initiatives across the division.

Responsibilities

  • Build confident relationships with Regional VP Operations and VP HR.
  • Implement best practices regarding employee accountability, workplace culture, employee engagement, and code of conduct.
  • Lead and develop HR professionals across the division.
  • Participate in mergers and acquisitions from an HR perspective.
  • Integrate new employees into the company.
  • Standardize HR practices while addressing organizational design, succession planning, performance management, and staffing.
  • Provide coaching and counseling to management and leadership teams on HR policies and practices.

Requirements

  • MS in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of HR experience in Construction Services or Manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated HR career progression.
  • Experience with continuous improvement processes.
  • Knowledge of California employment laws.
  • Labor/Union relations experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for at least 4 years.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional in Human Resources certification (preferred).
  • Ability to commute to San Diego, CA 92111 (preferred).
  • Willingness to relocate to San Diego, CA 92111 with an employer-provided relocation package (required).
