About the position

SunOpta is seeking a seasoned HR Director to serve as a dedicated business partner to the VP of Manufacturing, leading the Plant HR Manager team. This role is pivotal in designing and executing HR strategies for manufacturing operations, focusing on employee relations, manager development, and organizational effectiveness. The HR Director will inspire and guide HR Managers, ensuring alignment with business objectives and fostering a culture of engagement and performance across multiple manufacturing sites.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and implement HR strategy for assigned clients to achieve business objectives and drive employee engagement.
  • Coach and guide managers to increase their effectiveness as leaders, providing direct feedback and coaching.
  • Provide insights and trends to leadership, along with solutions and strategy ideas to solve problems.
  • Facilitate talent development sessions, performance calibrations, talent reviews, and employee relations support.
  • Inspire and teach strategic HR business partnering capabilities to HR Managers.
  • Ensure each plant has a documented Org, Talent & Culture plan that aligns with overall leadership priorities.
  • Participate in plant Quarterly Business Reviews with C-suite leadership.
  • Review staffing and organizational health data to offer insights and coaching for action planning.
  • Lead projects to streamline HR processes and improve manager capabilities.
  • Drive people strategy and change leadership on significant organizational changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, HR, or related major required.
  • Minimum ten years' experience in Human Resources with management positions in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Experience in a multi-location manufacturing/distribution center environment.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring others, influencing without authority.
  • Project or process leadership experience in Talent Management, Learning, Change, or Org Design.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA and/or other HR certifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and payroll/HRIS systems.
  • Experience in food and beverage or regulated industry manufacturing.
  • Remote people leadership experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
