About the position

The Director of HR Operations for Total Rewards at Honda plays a pivotal role in overseeing the connection between the company and its associates. This position is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the HR Service Delivery team, ensuring that associates receive timely and effective responses to their inquiries regarding Total Rewards. The role encompasses managing HR processes and systems to guarantee accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and alignment with Honda's business objectives. The Director will focus on creating seamless, real-time solutions that enhance the associate experience, advocating for their needs and leveraging their expertise to improve service delivery. In this capacity, the Director will ensure operational efficiency by overseeing HR processes such as payroll, benefits administration, and compensation management. They will identify opportunities for process optimization and automation, moving away from paper-based solutions to more efficient digital workflows. The role also involves managing vendor relationships, improving self-service portals for managers and employees, and utilizing people analytics to provide visibility into HR operations. The Director will oversee the Compensation department to ensure competitive pay practices and manage Honda's Benefits Administration to maintain a competitive advantage in the market. The Director will lead and mentor a team of HR professionals, ensuring they are skilled and motivated to meet organizational goals. Collaboration with various stakeholders across the organization is essential to align HR operations with business needs. The Director will also focus on continuous improvement initiatives, staying current with industry best practices and leveraging innovative technology to enhance HR service delivery. Compliance with labor laws and regulations is a critical aspect of this role, as the Director will oversee audits and ensure that all necessary training is delivered in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficient functioning of HR processes and workflows, including payroll, benefits administration, and compensation management.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Manage multiple vendor relationships and understand the Request for Proposal process.
  • Improve existing workflows by moving away from paper-based solutions to automation.
  • Enhance Manager Self-Serve and Employee Self-Serve portals.
  • Drive people analytics to demonstrate accuracy and scope when impacting the associate population.
  • Manage Operational Scorecard to reflect progress on major initiatives.
  • Track all associate cases and investigate root causes.
  • Provide strong reporting and analytics to improve service delivery visibility.
  • Oversee the Compensation department to ensure competitive pay practices.
  • Manage Honda's Benefits Administration to ensure meaningful benefits for associates.
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of Payroll to all US Honda Associates.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR operations team.
  • Collaborate with other divisions and departments to align HR operations with organizational goals.
  • Proactively identify initiatives for process improvement and innovation within HR operations.
  • Oversee compliance with labor laws and company policies to minimize risks.
  • Manage all Leaves of Absences and oversee audits with a focus on SOX compliance.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a technical field.
  • A minimum of 12 years of progressive HR or Talent experience, including positions of increasing responsibility.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in leading and managing large, complex teams, preferably in HR operations.
  • Experience in ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations and managing HR-related risks.
  • Strong leadership and management skills to lead HR teams effectively.
  • Proficiency in optimizing HR operations, streamlining processes, and improving efficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex HR topics clearly to various stakeholders.
