About the position

As the Director of Human Resources Operations at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley, CA, you will play a pivotal role in applying your extensive Human Resources expertise to support the hospital's employees. This hands-on position allows you to showcase your skills in various HR functions, including employee relations, employee engagement, labor relations, performance development, conflict management, and training initiatives. You will collaborate closely with both clinical and non-clinical leaders across the organization to ensure that HR practices align with the hospital's mission and values. Your responsibilities will include providing advice, recommendations, and coaching to leaders on HR and workforce issues, leading employee engagement activities, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures. You will also manage day-to-day employee and labor relations, providing direction and support to management regarding the interpretation of policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements. Additionally, you will serve as an advocate for both employees and management, encouraging problem resolution through the appropriate channels. You will diagnose organizational issues and leverage HR resources to deliver effective solutions that drive cultural change and improve operational outcomes. Your role will also involve advising management on compliance with laws and regulations related to human resources, ensuring that the hospital remains ready and compliant in a highly regulated healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advice, recommendations, and coaching to leaders on HR and workforce issues.
  • Leads employee engagement activities and ensures compliance with HR policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Manages day-to-day employee and labor relations.
  • Provides direction and support to management with interpretation of policies and procedures and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Educates and advises on proper documentation and legal requirements for performance improvement and termination processes.
  • Serves as an advocate for employees and management, encouraging problem resolution through the chain of command.
  • Diagnoses and determines the scope of organizational issues, leveraging HR resources to deliver effective solutions.
  • Influences operational outcomes to improve efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs.
  • Advises management on compliance with laws and regulations pertaining to human resources.
  • Delivers processes and programs that ensure readiness and compliance in a highly regulated healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree, or a combination of education and/or additional job-related experience in lieu of the degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources.
