About the position

As the Director of Human Resources at The AES Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our workforce and driving the company's commitment to innovation and sustainability. This position is not just about managing HR functions; it is about being a strategic partner to the business leaders and ensuring that our people programs and policies align with the overall goals of the organization. You will implement various people programs that enhance employee engagement and drive positive talent outcomes, utilizing talent tools to inform critical actions. Your expertise will guide the resolution of employee and labor relations issues, ensuring that all employees feel valued and respected within the workplace. In this role, you will advise, coach, and engage with leaders at all levels, using analytics to make data-driven decisions that positively impact talent management. You will collaborate with the Workforce Planning team to develop and execute workforce plans that meet our talent needs, while also partnering with HR Centers of Expertise and HR Operations to deliver effective solutions and programs. A deep understanding of the talent market will be essential as you leverage this knowledge to inform our talent acquisition strategy, promoting inclusivity and implementing actions focused on improving Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the organization. You will also identify development needs for the groups you support and promote the completion of periodic people processes, ensuring that leaders utilize the tools and resources available to foster a positive culture. As an ambassador of the AES employer brand, you will work closely with communications to ensure that our messaging is timely, relevant, and engaging. This role requires a self-starter who can navigate ambiguity and change, with a strong presence and confidence to engage constructively with leaders across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Implements people programs and policies
  • Uses talent tools to inform and drive critical talent actions
  • Guides the resolution of employee relations and labor relations issues or concerns
  • Advises, coaches and engages with leaders at all levels
  • Uses analytics to inform data-driven decisions and positive talent outcomes
  • In partnership with Workforce Planning team, informs & participates in the development & execution of workforce plans to inform how we will meet talent needs
  • Partners with HR Centers of Expertise and HR Operations team to develop and deliver solutions and programs
  • Develops a deep understanding of the talent market and leverages that knowledge to inform talent acquisition strategy
  • Promotes inclusivity; implements actions focused on improving Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
  • Identifies development needs for the groups they support
  • Promotes the completion of periodic and routine people processes
  • Ensures leaders are using tools and resources to drive improved talent outcomes & a positive culture
  • Acts as an ambassador of the AES employer brand
  • Partners with communications to ensure timely, relevant, consumable communications

Requirements

  • 8+ years in Human Resources, including demonstrated ability to partner with business leaders to develop solutions and drive positive outcomes
  • Experience within the energy industry preferred; or ability to learn quickly
  • Bachelor degree required, MBA preferred
  • Strong communication skills - written, oral, interpersonal
  • Detail oriented with analytical problem-solving capabilities and critical thinking skills
  • Self-starter who deals well with ambiguity and change
  • Strong presence and confidence to engage directly, constructively, and with credibility with leaders at all levels
  • Change agent; ability to identify gaps, position solutions, and promote adoption and positive change
  • Successfully navigate between tactical and strategic objectives
  • Experience in developing and delivering HR programs
  • Solid understanding of the value each HR subject area brings
  • Manages confidentiality without exception
  • Proven reputation of relationship building/networking
  • Critical thinking; understanding of the SBU strategy and key financial and operational drivers and dynamics
  • Agility; ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment and shift focus quickly
