The Director of HR Technology Strategy, Data Governance & Payroll will lead the overall strategy for HR Technology globally, as well as North American payroll delivery and Data Governance. This role is responsible for the strategy, maintenance, design, development, and testing of the systems that support HR business processes, ensuring high-quality execution of payroll and pay programs. In addition to strategy and execution, the role emphasizes driving efficiency through continuous improvement. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of current market trends, exhibit thought leadership, and possess a willingness to be hands-on with the work. This is a hybrid role based in our Lake Forest, IL office, reporting to the VP of HR Services, Technology, and Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Build the vision and strategy of the HR Technology and Payroll functions.
  • Ensure systems and processes are effectively and efficiently operating to support business needs and ensure accurate and timely execution of all payroll-related activities.
  • Stay up to date on relevant regulatory changes and laws, ensuring compliance through procedures and policies.
  • Lead and/or participate in projects with the ability to drive decision-making and demonstrate strong problem resolution skills.
  • Support the ongoing performance and optimization of recently implemented systems, ensuring seamless integration of new and existing systems, and business processes and procedures, including operational readiness.
  • Develop strong, productive relationships with business partners.
  • Effectively develop and lead a high performing team.

Requirements

  • 7+ years HR leadership experience, ideally across HRIS, Compliance, Strategy, and/or Payroll functions.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to use data to drive decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to determine needs, identify solutions, obtain buy-in and support, and implement solutions.
  • Experience leading projects with significant scope and impact.
  • Experience leading through significant change.
  • Experience with SAP/Success Factors.
