About the position

The Director of the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program at the Institute of International Education (IIE) is responsible for leading and managing the program, which enhances leadership among international professionals. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the program, ensuring compliance with agreements, managing budgets, and fostering collaboration among team members and stakeholders. The Director will also engage with U.S. universities and government entities to promote the program and its impact on global challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, ensuring alignment with IIE's mission and goals.
• Oversee all aspects of the program, including budget management and compliance with agreements.
• Prepare reports for sponsors and maintain regular communication with stakeholders.
• Develop and implement an annual strategic plan for the program in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State.
• Supervise, mentor, and train team members, fostering collaboration and integration.
• Promote partnerships and evaluate communication strategies to enhance engagement with Fellows and stakeholders.
• Represent the program externally through presentations and conferences, engaging with higher education leadership.
• Monitor trends in international higher education and address challenges faced by developing countries.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree or Master's degree in a relevant field.
• At least 10 years of related work experience in managing international scholarship or exchange programs.
• Experience with foreign student advising and managing client emergencies.
• Ability to work independently and handle complex program management tasks.
• Strong leadership skills to motivate and manage a collaborative team.

Nice-to-haves

• PhD in a relevant field preferred.
• Twelve years of directly related work experience is strongly preferred.
