About the position

The Director I, Speech-Language Therapy and Audiology Services at Clark County School District is responsible for overseeing and managing districtwide speech-language therapy and audiology services. This role involves planning, organizing, and supervising the delivery of these services, ensuring alignment with educational methodologies, and supporting the professional development of staff. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance service delivery and address the needs of students effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates districtwide programs for speech-language therapy and audiology services.
  • Collaborates with region-based staff to align speech-language therapy services with the curriculum.
  • Oversees the recruitment, hiring, professional learning/onboarding, and supervision of speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and audiologists.
  • Assigns, audits, and adapts staff assignments to school locations in designated areas.
  • Provides direction, conducts observations, evaluations, and discipline for assigned SLPs and audiologists.
  • Directs ongoing development and implementation of departmental publications and policies.
  • Assists in resolving problems in the delivery of speech-language therapy services.
  • Researches and implements ongoing professional learning for staff.
  • Manages auxiliary services including homebound and early childhood programs.
  • Tracks and coordinates referrals from CCSD's Child Find.
  • Reviews and approves therapy documentation submitted by SLPs and audiologists.
  • Ensures the use of research-based therapy materials and diagnostic tools by SLPs and audiologists.
  • Directs orientation and ongoing programs for probationary SLPs and audiologists.
  • Assigns students completing speech-language pathology practicum placements.
  • Identifies SLPs to serve as Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) supervisors.
  • Directs assignments for Medicaid supervision of SLPs not meeting state qualifications.

Requirements

  • An earned master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Hold or be able to acquire a Nevada administrative license/endorsement by appointment.
  • Hold or be able to acquire a Nevada license/endorsement in speech and language impairments by appointment.
  • Hold or be able to acquire a Nevada state license to practice Speech-Language Pathology by appointment.
  • Hold or be able to acquire the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association by appointment.
  • A valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in Nevada.
  • At least five years of successful licensed experience as a speech-language pathologist in an accredited K-12 public or private school, or three years with a valid Nevada school administrative endorsement.
