About the position

Travelers is seeking a Director, Technical Product Manager to join our organization to lead a team to deliver capabilities and solutions in an agile manner. In this position, you will act as the voice of the end-user, guiding the day-to-day work of a cross-functional team, with a focus on achieving defined outcomes rather than dictating how the work is completed. This role requires a technical leader who is comfortable working with both technology and business teams, defining and solving problems alongside software engineers while also scoping work products with business stakeholders. As a Director, Technical Product Manager, you will be responsible for defining, prioritizing, and ensuring a ready backlog of work for a cross-functional product team. You will accept final product output, manage a backlog of deliverables and capabilities, and engage in 'test and learn' experimentation aimed at refining future deliverables. Your role will involve translating business strategies and needs into execution-ready work for a technical team, defining team goals and strategies, and ensuring alignment with the broader company vision. You will act as the voice of the end-user, ensuring that customer feedback is proactively sought and that team work products meet defined acceptance criteria. Additionally, you will own the team backlog, make trade-off decisions to maximize value, and optimize the flow of value by setting objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for solutions. Your responsibilities will also include informing and participating in business readiness, understanding the impact of change, and managing adoption while mitigating resistance. You will provide feedback on work-in-progress, clarify requirements, and contribute to removing roadblocks or impediments, all while fostering an innovative, inclusive, and diverse team environment that promotes collaboration and self-organization.
