About the position

As a Director of Cyber Risk and Analysis at Capital One, you will be an integral part of the Identity & Access Management (IAM) organization, collaborating closely with our cyber security team and extended technical teams to enhance and manage our risk posture. This role requires a dedicated and disciplined process and risk professional who thrives in a team environment, demonstrates strong leadership capabilities, and inspires others. Your responsibilities will include serving as the risk management thought leader and advisor to the IAM leadership team, acting as the subject matter expert on our risk management approach, frameworks, and processes. You will guide the team in engineering technology and processes that mitigate risk and enhance daily operations in alignment with our strategic direction. You will oversee the program management of IAM risk management, leading and collaborating with various teams to drive the execution of improvements, creation, and validation of requirements, processes, controls, and metrics to measure process efficiency and effectiveness. Additionally, you will manage the issue resolution process by proactively identifying and mitigating risks related to project delivery and program execution. This includes preparing the program and team for annual cyber assessments by working with the risk office to understand the assessment process and criteria, analyzing gaps, and creating action plans to remediate deficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the risk management thought leader and advisor to the IAM leadership team.
  • Advise and guide the team to engineer technology and processes that remove risk from the environment.
  • Oversee the program management of IAM risk management.
  • Lead and collaborate with various teams to drive execution to improve, create, and validate requirements, processes, controls, and metrics.
  • Drive projects end to end, including the creation and maintenance of formal process documents and supporting artifacts.
  • Act as the point of contact for IAM Risk to the IAM leadership team and partners across the company.
  • Tailor verbal and written communications to the audience's needs and levels.
  • Articulate the program's strategy, processes, intent, inputs and outputs, related failure modes, and measurements.
  • Manage the issue resolution process by proactively identifying and mitigating risk related to project delivery.
  • Resolve complex problems requiring expertise to interpret against policies, guidelines, requirements, or processes.
  • Prepare the program and team for annual cyber assessments by working with the risk office to understand the assessment process and criteria.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 7 years experience in cybersecurity or technology
  • At least 5 years experience in process management
  • At least 5 years experience in risk management
  • At least 5 years experience in people management

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems Engineering
  • 9+ years of project management experience
  • 8+ years of experience in change management in a technical environment
  • Business Process Management (BPM) certification
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
