This position leads a broad portfolio of work, including fundraising/business development, financial management, and team management. Candidates must live in and have established networks in Chicago area. This is a hybrid position working in the Chicago office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic vision and thought leadership to implement CSH's strategic plan and to identify, create, broaden and engage in multi-sector investment and initiatives across Illinois.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision and deployment of team of 8 staff in CSH's IL Program.
  • Deepen and cultivate effective, collaborative working relationships with leaders of philanthropic, government, and community-based organizations and people with lived experience to engage multi-sector leadership and investment in existing and new housing and services to ensure sustainability and growth of supportive housing.
  • Lead geographically based fundraising and business development efforts in partnership with CSH's Fund Development team and ensure on-time and on-budget philanthropic and consulting project budgets and deliverables.
  • Lead IL Team's work on crafting and implementing project and annual work plans that advance CSH's broader regional and national goals outlined in the Strategic Plan.
  • Develop and monitor individual project budgets and financials and develop and manage the Team's portion of CSH's organizational budget.
  • Leverage and partner with CSH's national program units to pursue state and local outcomes.
  • Assist with efforts to protect and expand public and private investment in supportive housing and to engage mainstream systems of care in collaborative design and funding of integrated housing and service programs.
  • Develop and lead Policy efforts on the City, County and State level to advance Supportive Housing.
  • Oversee a local pipeline of supportive housing units utilizing project-based, set-aside and scattered-site development approaches using strategies that include development, vouchers, service overlay and other creative methods of advancing a robust and high-quality pipeline.
  • Represent CSH IL internally and externally.
  • Identify opportunities and learnings from projects to disseminate recommendations and impact across CSH teams and regions, making appropriate connections to share knowledge, experience, and advice.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in supportive housing, affordable housing, real estate development, healthcare, justice, policy analysis and/or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or any combination of 15+ years of education, training, and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the position's duties.
  • Demonstrated leadership and high-level decision-making skills necessary to advance and realize CSH's vision and further advance the organization's mission.
  • Demonstrated management experience, including setting performance expectations and managing multiple internal and external projects and priorities.
  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including culturally specific communities, in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process.
  • Ability to facilitate discussions and train large size groups, among housing and service leaders, both virtually and in person.
  • An understanding of systemic inequalities and bias, and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities is preferred.
  • Management experience, with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills and the ability to manage project teams, project budgets, and deadlines with moderate supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, facilitation and training, active listening, and ability to present to diverse audiences.
  • CSH uses a Microsoft Office environment. Proficiency and a commitment to self-learn and achieve proficiency upon hire are required.
