About the position

The Director of Individual Giving and Donor Engagement at Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence is a leadership role responsible for managing and growing a development portfolio of $1.5 million. This position focuses on major gifts and donor engagement strategies to significantly increase fundraising outcomes. The director will collaborate with senior leadership and various boards to drive new revenue and maintain relationships with current donors, while also overseeing a small team to achieve these goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and inspire 1-2 direct reports toward accountable, goal-oriented outcomes within the Advancement team.
  • Oversee the growth, strategy, cultivation, and stewardship of the Individual Giving portfolio, including Annual Fund, Major Giving, Leadership Giving, and Planned Giving.
  • Develop and manage the Individual Giving program's annual plan and budgets, ensuring consistent tracking and projections.
  • Advance the mission and vision of the organization through data collection, reporting, and collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Maintain and grow a dynamic portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, securing an individual pipeline of $750,000 annually.
  • Develop a moves management strategy to increase the donor base and revenue.
  • Create, implement, and grow a Planned Giving Program in partnership with the Vice President, Advancement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or comparable experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful experience meeting fundraising goals with responsibilities for individual donor giving.
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating and soliciting major gifts, with a preference for experience in planned giving and campaign planning.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, adept at relationship building and customer service.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) and CRM packages (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Daily access to a car and a valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a human services environment.
  • Knowledge of the Philadelphia and greater metro area fundraising landscape.
