About the position

As a Director of Industrial Sales at Graybar, you will play a pivotal role in achieving the sales and gross margin budgets for the Charlotte District's industrial business. This position requires you to drive the strategic direction set by Corporate into the field Sales and Marketing organizations. Your responsibilities will include implementing Corporate strategies and initiatives across the group of Districts, ensuring that all sales policies are adhered to, and providing quality sales support to customers through various managerial roles including Specialty Business Managers, Sales Managers, Account Managers, and Sales Representatives. You will also be responsible for directing National Account and Corporate Account activities at the district level, ensuring compliance with National Agreement terms and conditions. This includes reviewing and approving applicable workflows, assisting District Vice Presidents in preparing district sales and gross margin budgets, and ensuring proper sales and support coverage to meet assigned sales and margin budgets by location. Additionally, you will recommend salaries and assign changes for Sales Representatives and market/product employees to the District Vice Presidents, and work collaboratively with managers to assign accounts to Sales Representatives. In cooperation with Corporate, you will oversee supplier selectivity within the group of districts for the Company's strategic suppliers. This role demands a strong leadership presence, as you will be expected to lead complex project teams and develop relationships with key customers and suppliers. Extensive travel is required to fulfill the responsibilities of this position effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Corporate strategies and initiatives across the group of Districts.
  • Direct and provide quality sales support to all customers through Managers, Sales Managers, Account Managers, and Sales Representatives.
  • Direct National Account/Corporate Account activity at the district level to ensure conformance to National Agreement terms and conditions.
  • Review and approve applicable workflows.
  • Ensure the Company's sales policies are followed.
  • Assist District Vice Presidents in preparing district sales and gross margin budgets by location.
  • Ensure proper sales and support coverage to achieve assigned sales and margin budget by location.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience required.
  • 4 year degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of the wholesale distribution industry.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and practices.
